Mutual Blog Love

I think this Lady is very clever and has WONDERFUL taste ;) .

First of all she is a multitasker.....TWO blogs! Both beautiful and lovley!

I admire her aesthetics and beautiful use of colour
She is a very talented mixed media artist (i think)
She is always showcasing other amazing artists on her blog.

She likes me and my work

Go check out Kylies blogs..........its worth it! Just click on the blog headers at the top of this post

Margaret Preston Inspired

The Quilt below remided me of this Margaret Preston "Waratah Print".
I wonder if who ever made the quilt was inspired by it.
I was......i love Margaret Preston's work.

I did a study of it at TAFE a few years ago and gave it to my mum as a gift.
Sorry about the terrible pic, mum framed my print and i cant get a photo without the flash reflecting.

Quilt of the Day

This one is my personal favourite. The detail is incredible.

Lovely Sunday

Had a lovely Sunday yesterday, my first Craft Room Meet, was brave enough to go alone and meet some new people. It was a very nice day, lots of delicious food, so many marvelous projects and a bunch of Crafty ladies! Im still getting my confidence up, im not great in large groups or meeting new people but it as fun and im proud of myself for getting out and doing it.

I was quite productive and got lots of handquilting done, plus a bit of crochet and handsewing.
Thanks to Corrie for organising the day and also to Kate........for the beautiful gifts i recieved in the swap, i never got to say hello but i recieved your swap gift and i love it!

The postcards arre absolutley STUNNING! Thank you so much!

My Creative Space

Got back in the Fashion Swing of things last night.
I used to want to be a designer untill i found out how much hard work it was and discovered how terrible i was at following any sort of pattern. I have always dabbled and made the odd quick and easy garment but this i think will be my biggest challenge.

I made this chiffon dress last year for a wedding but being chiffon it showed up the endless mistakes in the sewing and i never wore it. Last night i had a brain wave and came up with this concept........the Doily/Lace Dress.

As with most of you i have a stash of Doily's at the ready for emergency's or nostaligic moments and i have never known what to do with them. Not anymore...............get ready for a Doily covered dress!
Im going to take my time making this one as i really want it to look perfect!

HOT Stuff - Granny Square Tea Pot Cosy

I was beside myself with joy when i found this little lonley piece of paper in the Op Shop Knitting patterns basket.

The pattern is from a British Womens Weekly circa 1960's i would say based on the ladieswear.

This picture isnt exactly huge so if you'd like the real thing i can email it to anyone as a PDF, just leave me a comment below.

I cant wait to start making this one!!!!

Quilt of the Day

I have so many photos of the amazing quilts on display at the Sydney Quilt and Craft fair. I couldnt possible share them all in one go, we would be totally quilted out so i will make it my mission to post a "Quilt a Day" untill i have shared all my favourites.

This pic is of teeny tiny detail work around the border of one of the "Anything Goes" quilts.

So Whimsical and pretty i think...............

Packing Miss Petal

Miss Petal is off to Berlin this weekend to meet her new friend Meredith.

I wanted to make her trip as comfortable as possible so i created a speacially patchworked box for travelling in, a cute little blanket, a heart so she knows she's loved and a doughnut in case she gets hungry.

I hope Meredith likes Miss Petal............i want this to be a very special surprise for her.

My Creative Space.............Part 2

Part 2 involved Sashiko stitching this week..............a little sampler i bought at the Quilt show that i have'nt been able to take my hands off since i bought it.

LOVE love LOVE Sashiko, im not much of an embroiderer so this is nice and simple for me and i think the patterns are beautiful and graphic.

Im sketching up a placemat Sahiko pattern to try next.
