My Own Little Photo Shoot

Ive been trying to get photo's taken for my "in the works" ETSY store, and as usual i have procrastinated and put off the things i needed to do for it.

But finally i am organised and finished, I've built my light box, bought some lamps and put it all together this afternoon.

My very good friend Cass, is coming to take the pics for me some time this week, I'm a terrible photographer with an awful camera and Cassie is a Whizz Bang Photographer so she's saving my skin here.

I was so excited to be finished i just had to have a little photo shoot of my own on the dining table.
Here are the results.....what to do you think?

Watcha Wearing Wednesday

  • Silk Maxi dress from Sussan's last year - Biggest bargain EVER - $200ish dollars reduced to $20!!!!!
  • Cardigan from my Fashion retail job 6 years ago
  • Black silk/wool blend pashmina
  • Rabbit chewed aqua blue Haviana's - not seen

Tiny Terrariums

There has been allot of talk of Terrariums on the Web lately and i do love the way they look, so whimsical and quirky, like a little fairy garden.

So the other day when hanging my washing out to dry, i noticed a big old pot plant full of dirt covered moss and i knew exactly what to do.

20 minute later and TADA..........Tiny Little Terrariums. I created the mushrooms by gluing bits of coloured foam to tiny sticks then painting dots on them.........it was all too easy!

New Obsession 2

More Pic's from my fabric printing craze this weekend.

The block prints i made to create my prints and some late night Dollies.

Had an epiphany at 11pm on Saturday night and got out of bed, leaving "My Love" to wonder what was going on,  to print some Matryoshka type dolls / softies. I'm really happy with the way they turned out, i think they'll look really cute once they're made up.

New Obsession

I have discovered fabric printing.
Using store bought Foam letters and my own blocks cut out of Foam core i had a weekend of experimentation and what FUN it was.
I think i may have a new Obsession.
What could be better than creating things out your own fabric designs!

The Little Things

Its the little things i miss when i think of my best friend Yaicha.

It will be 3 years this Saturday since she left us , killed in a car crash...........she was on her way from Byron Bay to Sydney to come stay the weekend at my new flat.
I had tried to make her promise not to drive alone, the road was wet and it was early morning.

When someone is taken from you in such a rough way, with force, and horror and no explanation it leaves scars on you soul and there are little things you cant forget.

I will never forget getting the phone call to tell me and the kind girl who sat next to me and comforted me on the 40 minute bus ride home.
I will never forget the last phone call i made to her and the last text message she sent me.

I will never forget how her father broke down when we arrived at their house, his exact words were "What took you so long" as his voice cracked and we all let go of some of the pain.

I will never forget the words i spoke at her funeral, though i wrote them when i was drunk  and have not looked at them since, i can recite them almost word for word. I will always remember how cold it was while we said goodbye and how when we had finished the sun turned our way and it suddenly was warm again.

Its the little things that she left us that keep me together, its the ever enduring love for life she had that we all got to keep and share , its that beautiful laugh that i hear every now and then and when i least expect it.

Its the shining golden blond hair of the niece she never got to meet, and the family that is now stronger and closer than ever before and that i love like my own.

Now its the little things that keep her close to me, signs that she is still here and present.
A frangipani in my path, a song we used to love in our teenage years, a band we went to see together or nature discovered in an unexpected place.

While i feel like i have lost a piece of myself with her, its the little things that start to fill that hole and make me sure that though she may be gone..........she is still here with me.

Carrying on with Pip's "Words and Pictures" Meme - This week its "The Little Things"

Many thanks to you Pip! Im finding this whole writing thing very cathartic.

Words & Pictures - Cosy

Image from HERE

Cosy was the air she breathed that morning, as the raindrops fell on tin roofs around and she awoke with sleep in her eyes and in her ears and on her mind. Wrapped in cream and grey of pillows, sheets and downy quilt.

A morning with no arrangements made and no reason to get up, except the kettle called with a sweet whistle and she could already feel the cold winds blowing in the drafts. So she got out of bed shedding her skins and picking up new ones.

Cosy were the slippers surrounding her feet, a sloppy jumper, satin leapard print pyjamas and a beret for good measure

Green Tea and a cigarette on the balcony, watching the smoke drift out into the storming surrounds and the waves crash violently, relentlessly on the already disappearing sandy shore. A day with nothing to do, warm in her apartment, no reason to do anything but relax as the storms roll on and past and the day does the same.

Warm is her heart to have this space in time to be and have it just for her.

Warm and Cosy.

When We Were Six - My Creative Space

We had the pleasurable job of hosting our nearly Brother in Law and his six year old daughter this weekend, so our days have been full of child friendly activities and high pitched giggles.

They have stayed with us before so she knows all about my craft supply filled garage and every spare moment at home was spent colouring and printing and sticking.

I decided collage was the safest thing to do, not too much mess and the only dangerous implement being scissors, and since this is Paper month for "Mikes-Make-A-Long" it gave me a chance to work on some of my own stuff. Have a look at the rest of the groups efforts HERE........and please, if you like mine or anyone else's leave a comment!

Below are my efforts.

A little Miss Muffet Collage
A Silhouette Collage
and a Vintage Biggles Collage for the boys

Little Miss Six made the one with the Koala for My Love to keep

Resurrection Fern's Blog and Craft/Artwork is simply stunning and i absolutely love the crochet rocks in the Knitalatte Collection.
